the reader

'if looking at someone with desire was as bad as satisfying the desire, if having an active fantasy was as bad as the act you were fantasizing-then why not the satisfaction and the act itself? As the days went on, i discovered that i couldn't stop thinking sinful thoughts. In which case I also wanted the sin itself' - The Reader by Bernhard Schlink

funny that the things i have been reading these days could actually reflect my thoughts without me planning it. i mean, with Lolita, and now the Reader, they are all relationships between a really young person (in Lolita is the girl, the Reader is the boy) with someone really matured, experienced, not that they seduce any of these young ones, but these 'older' characters are intriguing. complex but yet contented.

i am at lost. i need to read on something younger i guess. :P

owh, so have u people been reading anything good these days? do share. i might add those books in after i am done with my 20-over books that has been collecting dusk on my bibliotheque. or better, we should start a book club kan kan?

ok adios amigos. off to work now. missing u guys.

am finishing up audrey niffeneger's latest 'her fearful symmetry'. Sadly it failed to keep me interested up til the last bit. itu pun struggle jugak. I still have about another hour's worth of reading left to the book.not as good as 'The Time Traveler's Wife'

But Mitch Albom's 'Have a Little Faith' was kinda inspiring to me. A bit like those Chicken Soup for The Soul series. Have yet to read 'The Last Lecture' by the late Randy Pausch..buku kasi pinjam kat orang before i read it myself..:P

I dunno la if my choice of books appeals to you..tapi I seem to go for all these 'cloud with silver lining' stories..but your books sounds interesting too..Maybe we should start a book club. Aku dah start browsing aimlessly dah kat Border's tu.

But when I'm really stressed out..Enid Blyton's stuffs never fail to make me feel like a kid again..heheh!

is The Reader sort of version lelaki kepada Lolita? is it as good as Nabokov's?

into light reading: Chetan Bhagat's books : 3 Mistakes of My Life, Night at The Call Centre, 2 States. These books made me to understand Indians better.

Juga sedang berusaha menghabiskan The 2nd Lady, dan Mitch Albom yang keempat itu sesudah For One More Day. Rafiqa, kerana hadiah buku 5 People U Meet in Heaven, I think I have started to become a reader and I'm ready to sign up ur book club.. hehe

Faruqy pula bertanggungjawab memperkenalkan I kepada 'shopaholics'. Jika saya tensen.. saya akan baca buku itu, dan kemudia keluar shopping dengan rasa tenang

kazuo-ri : best kah bastards itu?

azni : the reader is lighter than lolita. i would say lolita is such a complex guilt and pleasure at the same time. the reader was more of well complex jugak, but in the end it's understanding and empathy based la.

Crushio : ha ah. i bagi kat burn. can u put 2 and 2 together kat dalam comment box ni? ;)

khairabdullah : beb, on indian writers, i rasa i pnah suggest kat u several readers kan. god of small things by arundhati roy, vikram seth's an equal boy, and there's this 'cinnamon garden' by sape tak ingat. it was good too. now i BARU nak baca the world is flat. pon pasal the rise of industry in india jugak. huhu last year i baca this the dragon and apo tah pasal rise of china and india. best gak tu.

Buku chetan bagat's tu light2 aje ke? :D
