i read somewhere about someone mentioning originality. and originality would actually mean
the aspect of created or invented works by as being new or novel, and thus can be distinguished from reproductions, clones, forgeries, or derivative works.
In this world of technology, with internet as our major (if not Main) resource, it's hard to get an exact definition of originality. no one produces the only product, the only song, the only poem, the only lyrics, the only blog, the only entry without inspiration. without having the tendency to sound like the other.
without the internet before, such thing has happened. but we could hardly see all that coz there's no exact media that can confine everything. and now with internet, we could actually see it. hence judging everyone as a copycat of the other.
well, i believe in originality too, but lashing on everything or everyone that has the tendency becoming (not exactly becoming la kan) someone else (the people/thing they idolize typically) would be pretty shallow.
i think there's a fine line being a copycat and being inspired by it. so much so, despite writers trying to show how them being original and hates the world who weren't being true to themselves, i just have to smirk and say, 'hey, u sound just like the other guy'.
i suppose we are all inspired by everything and everyone around us. despite trying hard being rare or different, once u meet someone else who shares the same interest, u couldn't be that rare nor different could u?
i think being inspired by something/someone is soooo okay, but copying is not. and if everyone has to love nirvana for instance, does hating them makes u different?
just as much as everyone loves Siti, me hating her makes no difference, no? hehe.
frankly, there would always be a phase where every single one of us are copycats of someone, it could be our parents, Brad Pitt, the librarian in school, your favourite english teacher, Dr M, whoever. but soon, as we mature, as we grow old, or as we learn and realize that those idols aren't perfect, we make a mixture of everything we like , we believe in, or we fancy into becoming us. the ORIGINAL us.
in short, i guess there's so much effort in becoming ORIGINAL. true?

Pada pendapat gua lar beb masa zaman tok nadok era revolusi dedulu mmglah semua kedapatan original diperoleh secara memikir pecah kepala cam contoh newton etc.
Zaman la ni bukan takleh nak dpt sesuatu yg original tapi pada gua suka tak suka kita kena tengok/hayati kedapatan org lain terlebih dulu. Ianya lebih kpd proses pembelajaran sebelum cam lu kata effort utk buat sesuatu yg baru dan original.
Lu terer chess kan? Lu mesti "terikat" dgn segala bapak teori openings sampai lu rasa cam dah takde dah openings, cara utk handle middle games, konsep utk main endgames etc yg baru since semua line dah distudy dgn mendalam oleh segala bapak grandmaster dpd dulu sampai ke la ni. Dalam hal ni masa zaman Capablanca, Reti dll dulu yes! mmg dorang terer sebab create memacam idea. Zaman berikutnya bapak2 GM banyak membuat penambahbaikan tapi bukan maksud sesuatu yg original tu takleh diperoleh. Contoh yg baik adalah Kasparov. Walaupun pada awalnya dia cam di-influen oleh cara Botvinik tapi bila meningkat dewasa dia berjaya melahirkan sesuatu yg original dpd dirinya dan tak terikat dgn permainan bosan yg sentiasa mematuhi hukum karma segala bapak buku opening.
