once, when i was younger i did mention to friends that the youngs of this country have to experience war. we seem ungrateful and couldn't fully appreciate what independence was, what harmony was, what justice and peace were.
i was infuriated by people who couldn't appreciate peace in this country and i did expected a war of some kind to burst here on this land again, so that youngsters my age (back then) would know the terror, would appreciate the (post-war) freedom.
my intentions were noble but my prayers were not. war can never be a pretty picture. never. but how could i make youngsters understand the need of being at peace, the need to be in harmony, the need to be united?
anyway, earlier this week i was in the library, watching a video of the bosnia massacre and my heart was just gone. sunken to the pits. and 10 mins ago, i just managed to get done with the 52-minute dvd called 'the iron wall'. the story of palestine and israel. and the footage of a boy being thrown rocks on his head just wouldn't allow me to keep my tears from falling. gosh. the images were all disheartening, and i am sure, the more of us watching it, the more people would understand the need for us to be in peace.
well i have more to say to this. but let this entry be ended here, while my tone is still pretty much melancholic and sad. before i become more aggressive and have more ideas on who i should put this blame on and whom should be doing something and things that we should start doing. anyway, to those wanting to watch it, click on 'the iron wall'. to those wanting to borrow the dvd, just buzz me. yang footage bosnia massacre tu tak dapat nak tolong la. tgk pon dalam videotape lagi. if i could find it in youtube, i'll definitely link it here.
make love not war, people.

anyway, yeah, we lack of understanding. we lack of personal experience. and i thought only through it we could understand. but perhaps not. empathy is one great tool in us to actually learn from others.
