jarang la i wana have a part II write up ni. heh. but i just wanted to share with u guys something. about the process of having to come up with a term, or bak kata Dewan, peristilahan.
ok, coming up with a new word in Bahasa that has equivalent meaning to an English word is not easy. this is what i heard in a meeting i attended this morning. first, say an English word existed. then we would look up to our own words that could might bring the same meaning. if we can't have it in Malay, then we would look into Bahasa Jawa, Bugis, Penan, Aceh or any language of the same rumpun. if takde jugak, then we might melayukan that english word.
hence, walla! jelas ketara impaknya di dalam penulisan bahasa kita sehari-hari. i wanted to say that dalam meeting tadi. memelayukan bahasa now seems the easy way out to cater for such new words. tp agak kasar la if i were to do so. sebab menurut kata mereka, hey, kerja ni tak senang okaaay. they have a system to actually mewujudkan new words. and i go like , 'wow, really??' hehe keji betul aku ni.
anyway, i was quite insignificant in that meeting, sbb i was there untuk alasan yang totally berbeza. i was just caught in the event. :D but seriously, i wanted to discuss exactly how does this matter goes. and how Dewan of late, has been insignificant in the eyes of the majority. the matured audience. the meeting was consists of all orang tua, and orang muda was all back benchers that came for different reasons. and none from the Dewan itself.
but anyway, i got the attention of its Head when he kept reading my name tag out loud (ke he was trying to look at somewhere else? haha). and he was my VC before. i wanted him to sign a book that i brought along, tp mcm irrelevant plak coz he didn't write that book, and it is in English and oddly, it's about the history of Advertising world and its giants. tiada kaitan lansung dengan bahasa, apatah lagi masyarakat Malaysia. heh.
however, a member of the Dewan noticed me, and actually remembered me from the brief session we had at the parliament and to my glee, she is working at that peristilahan dept. so folks, soon i might be contacting her, and would wana chat with her over teh o ais just to talk about this serious issue. pergh. now i sound like a menteri, no? hahahahahaha. nanti once i get to know any new things, i let u guys know ok. in the meantime, please bear with the situation alright. we don't exactly know apakah masalah mereka sebenonye. heh.

Tapi bagus la, who knows, your meeting her might start a revolution for BM.
And if that happens, then your name will be etched forever in Malaysian history, prolly as Ibu Revolusi Bahasa Melayu :P

she'd be "bior betul, budak yg nangis kat dalam kelas masa aku suh dia baca esei dia senirik in public ni jadi IBU REVOLUSI BAHASA MELAYU?!!?!"

toolbox : bongok la. huhuhu. i kan kaki komen. itu aje.

so toolbox, how do we play a part in this? should we suggest Dewan to have a public forum with people our age to discuss how our perception has changed over the years?
